5 November 2022: To create awareness about nature conservation and to enhance sustainable development globally,Sikkim Professional College of Nursing and Sikkim Professional College of Art and Science celebrated International Biosphere Reserve Dayat the University campus. On this day, the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University,Professor Jasbant Sokhi and the Registrar of the University, Professor Ramesh Kumar Rawat shed light on the significance of nature conservation. Significantly, government across the world are doing a lot of work to save nature and promote sustainable development. If we talk about India, government is developing total 18 biosphere reserve areas in West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Tamandu, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha.
On this day, the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Jasbant Sokhi and the Registrar of the University, Professor Ramesh Kumar Rawat distributed T-Shirts and bags to fifty students. In addition, they also encouraged students to keep the university campus clean and green. Samjana Rai, Amrita Rai, Dugmita Lepcha, Aditi Pradhan, and Amrita Sharma were present at the event.
