On 11th April 2023,The second year PB.Bsc nursing students of Sikkim Professional College of Nursing, Red Ribbion Club, Sikkim Professional University, conducted a mass awareness programme to raise awareness on the topic of AIDS, substance abuse and women’s health.
The campaign was held at Dugalakha village, Pakyong East sikkkm in coordination with Sikkim Professional College of Nursing, Red Ribbion Club, Sikkim Professional University,. Programme was guided through senior tutor Miss.Shrada Pradhan. The campaign was honoured by the visit of Mr. Arjun Patak, panchayat of Dugalakha village , Dr. Chunki Bhutia, Physiotherapist of PHC Pakyong and Mrs. Sita Sharma LHV , MCH.
The campaign was hosted by miss Rubina Gurung which led to the welcoming ceremony hosted by Mrs. Tshering Doma Bhutia where all dignitaries and guests were greeted with ‘khadas’. Mrs. Puspa Pradhan and miss. Passang Lhamu Bhutia talked about importance of breast self examination and performed live demonstration. Miss. Pratibha Rai talked about menstrual hygiene.
To make the programme more engaging, an awareness skit on substance abuse was performed by 2nd year PBBsc nursing 1st year GNM nursing students. Important message on HIV awareness was shared by Mrs. Sheela shasi Rai and Mrs. Bhawana Gurung. At the end of the programme needed necessary feedback and evaluation from the public was taken by miss. Punam chettri. Gifts were also distributed among the people present during interaction session. A health checkup was conducted where blood pressure, GRBS, height and weight of the people were measured. The campaign was wrapped up by a vote of thanks speech by miss. Ritu Biswakarma addressing the guests and people present.
