Sikkim Professional College of Nursing celebrated International Nurses Day

Sikkim Professional College of Nursing, Sikkim Professional University, celebrated International Nurses Day, 2023 at Seminar Hall of the Sikkim Professional University today to emphasize on the need to empower nurses as a part of the global campaign “Our Nurses: Our Future”. The programme was organized by the Student Representative Council.

The Vice Chancellor of Sikkim Professional University, Professor J. A. Arulchellakumar graced the occasion as a Chief Guest, while Professor Ramesh Kumar Rawat, Registrar, SPU was the guest of honor.  

The Vice Chancellor of Sikkim Professional University, Professor J. A. Arulchellakumar also inspired the student nurses to utilize the platform for selfless service of the sick and needy.

The Registrar of Sikkim Professional University, Professor Ramesh Kumar Rawat  while congratulating all for the day, also shared a soulful poem describing the nursing profession as one requiring devotion to the service of needy.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the auspicious lamp by the university dignitaries and  with the sarsvati vandana presented by nursing students as well as invoking the grace of the almighty, followed by the speech on this year’s theme by Miss Kabya Thapa, Tutor. She highlighted the nurses role in the healthcare as one that is indispensable and vital to the patient care outcome.

 The cultural part of the programme witnessed skit on Florence Nightingale’s life, songs and dances depicting local culture.
